Amahle is in her own lane with her large dark striped green leaves. The Calathea Ornata is most commonly known as a prayer plant, because its leaves fold together at night, like praying hands. You might be able to see those leaves relax at sunrise.
Check her once a week and if the top two inches of soil are dry it’s time for a drink. She’s less thirsty in winter.
Amahle needs plenty of diffused light however direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their markings. She can tolerate some degree of shade, but the better the light conditions, the more you will be rewarded by fine foliage. Experiment in your home to find the perfect spot for your plant.
MAWUSI tip High humidity levels are a must. Pop it in the shower room or kitchen from time to time to give an extra boost.
